About Sean Jennings
Following that experience, he moved to the Bay Area. He received his BA in Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Development at the New College of California. There he was able to study with others who were pioneering the fields of Natural Building and Permaculture. He spent time working with Oakland City Repair Project, Friends of the Urban Forest, and S.L.U.G. (San Francisco League of Urban Gardens) as well as many workshops with the Regenerative Design Institute, Emerald Earth, & Cob Cottage Co. After 2 years in the Bay Area, Sean moved to Vermont where he was hired on at the Shelburne Farms Market Garden, a 3 acre market garden on the shores of Lake Champlain. There he worked extensively in organic vegetable production, learning what it takes to run a viable Market Garden. He also finally aquired his Permaculture Design certificate at the Yestermorrow Design School in Vermont. Sean is now back where he grew up and for the past 3 years, he has been developing a property in Malibu into a working permaculture farm. Here he has been happily installing veggie gardens, water tanks, swales, forest gardens, chickens and more. Drawing from the ethic of leadership and activism that the time he spent in the Bay Area instilled in him, Sean also founded the Westside Permaculture Gatherings that meets monthly in Santa Monica. The people who are part of the Westside Permaculture Gatherings have built Cob Benches, gardens in their neighbors front yards, and harvested the rain. |
